LOOP 1604 AND GRAYTOWN ROAD

Arias performed services for the two mile TxDOT project which included widening Loop 1604 by adding three northbound lanes with a tie-in to Graytown Road. The project included milling and repaving the surface course of the existing lanes and construction of the new lanes from Graytown Road to State Highway 78. Arias provided construction materials testing services as quality control laboratory to V.K. Knowlton Construction & Utilities, Ltd. for TxDOT. Arias’ services include HMAC 1-B and coring services. Cores are given to TxDOT to be tested for air voids to determine density. Our work has also included subgrade proctors and densities, base material proctors and densities, asphalt monitoring, asphalt densities, rolling patterns, asphalt coring, segregation profiles, thermal profiles, and longitudinal joint densities, all conducted in accordance with TXDOT 2004 Item 341 specifications. Construction was completed in March of 2013. The total construction cost is approximately $8 million.
